Joanna Sokołowska-Gwizdka is a writer and a freelance journalist. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Polish Language and Literature from the University of Łódź, Poland. She worked as a Lecturer at the Department of Old Polish Literature at the University of Łódź. She also collaborated with the Polish TV-Łódź station and appeared on the Literary Variety program as a regular literary reviewer. She served as a Polish Director of Public Relations and the correspondent for Rzeczpospolita at the International Chopin Festival in Nohant, France. She was also a radio correspondent for Voice of Polonia, Australia. She published extensively in Polish magazines and newspapers such as Rzeczpospolita, Pani, Dziennik Łódzki, and Odgłosy. In 2001 she moved to Canada. Her articles have been published in Gazeta (Toronto, Canada), Polish Daily News (New York, New York), Polonia Kalifornijska (San Diego, California), Teraz (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Polonez (Cairo, Egypt), Kurier Zachodni (Perth, West Australia), Tygodnik Polski (Sydney, Australia), and Jazz Forum (Warsaw, Poland). She has also collaborated with a Toronto television program Polish Studio. Since January 2003 she has been Editor-in-Chief of “List Oceaniczny,” a monthly literary magazine to Gazeta. She currently lives in New Jersey.
